Balkumari College is a trusted name for quality education. At Balkumari College, we take pride in offering two exceptional programs: B.Sc. Microbiology and Environmental Science, both affiliated with Tribhuvan University. Our college is dedicated to providing high-quality education that not only empowers students with knowledge but also enhance critical thinking and innovation,.

Our B.Sc. Microbiology program commenced in the year 2064 B.S, is designed to explore the fascinating world of microorganisms, ranging from bacteria and viruses to fungi and protozoa. Through hands-on laboratory experiences and theoretical learning, students explore the diverse aspects of microbiology, including Medical microbiology, Agriculture microbiology, Food microbiology, Public health microbiology, and Environmental microbiology.

The Environmental Science program was introduced in the academic year 2067 B.S. In our Environmental Science program, students engage with the intricate relationships between humans and the environment. From understanding ecological systems to addressing pressing environmental issues such as pollution, climate change, waste management and conservation, students are equipped with the knowledge and skills to become stewards of our planet.

  • Vision: To cultivate a generation of environmentally conscious individuals equipped with the knowledge, skills, and ethical values necessary to address complex environmental challenges and foster sustainable solutions for the well-being of the planet and its inhabitants.
  • Mission: Our mission is to provide a comprehensive and interdisciplinary education in environmental science, integrating scientific principles, practical skills, and ethical considerations. Through innovative teaching methods, research opportunities, and community engagement, we aim to empower students to understand, analyze, and mitigate environmental problems, promote conservation efforts, and contribute to the development of sustainable practices locally and globally.
  • Objectives:

  • It includes a broader vision of contributing to scientific advancements, public health, and environmental sustainability through the understanding and application of microbiological principles.

  • The mission of the program is to provide a comprehensive and rigorous education in microbiology that fosters critical thinking, scientific inquiry, and lifelong learning.
  • It aim is  to cultivate a culture of research, innovation, and collaboration among students and faculty members.
  • Additionally, the mission emphasizes the importance of ethical conduct, professional integrity, and societal responsibility in the practice of microbiology.

Objectives:

  • Educational Excellence: To deliver a curriculum that covers fundamental concepts as well as recent advances in microbiology, including topics such as microbial genetics, immunology, virology, and microbial ecology.
  • Hands-on Learning: To offer laboratory experiences, fieldwork, or internships that allow students to gain practical skills in microbiological techniques, data analysis, and problem-solving.
  • Research and Innovation: To encourage undergraduate research projects or independent studies that enable students to explore specific areas of interest within microbiology and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field.
  • Professional Development: To provide opportunities for students to develop communication, teamwork, and leadership skills essential for success in academia, industry, healthcare, or other microbiology-related careers.

Eligibility Conditions for Admission

The students applying for admission to B.Sc. program must have successfully completed the 10+2 Science program from NEB or I.Sc. (Biology Stream) or equivalent from any other recognized board by Tribhuvan University.
